Ashley

Hey, can you talk a little louder? I don't think my heart's broken enough. But someday we'll all be old and I'll be so damn beautiful.

Name:

This blog has followed me for a long time... from the first day of CIS not knowing what to write about, to when I felt the urge to go to church and the blogs that followed, to now while I sit in Michigan. Hopefully you can take something worthwhile from it and enjoy it.

Pissed Off

I am angry. Hurt. Frustrated. Disappointed. Confused. Mainly, though, I'm angry.

I'll start this story like a fairy tale... Once upon a time, there was a high school senior named Ashley. She had a friend, Jon, who had a friend, Mark. Through a series of events, Ashley and Mark began to like eachother and started to date. Three months went by like a blur- prom, trips to the mall, graduation, movies, dinners. Everything went fine in the beginning but after a while it became clear the words "breaking up" were looming over the horizon. So one night, after seeing a movie with their friend Jon, Ashley dropped the boy of this story- Mark, off at his house. They sat at the curb for a while and decided to part ways. There was a good-bye hug, a few tears shed, but all-in-all it was a good thing to have happen.

A week or so after the break-up, Ashley goes on a date with their mutual friend, Nelson. Everything was innocent- simply a goodnight hug (without a kiss) ended the date. A few days later, Ashley checks her e-mail and there is a message from Mark waiting for her to read. Wondering why he e-mailed her, Ashley opens the message. What was waiting for her was a message telling her Mark was disappointed and hurt by her going on a date so soon after they were finished. She calls Mark in an attempt to work things out, and the phone conversation led to him basically calling her a whore- in those words.

Fast forward two months. Mark and Ashley have made up and are still friends. She's filled him in that nothing happened with Nelson besides the hug, and yet Mark still calls Ashley a whore. Ashley lets those comments roll off her back because it's not worth it to her to press the issue any more. Nelson and Ashley also remain friends, and make a point to not go on any more dates because of the drama that ensues because of it. Jon, the friend who originally introduced Ashley and Mark, has been dating a girl, named Joleane. They date for around a month and then also decide to end their relationship.

One sunny day Ashley goes on-line and types in www.xanga.com. This is a site much like blogger- people sign up and keep on-line journals for their friends to read. Ashley only reads the journals of Mark, Jon and Joleane, because these are the only people she actually knows on the site. The journals of Mark and Jon have not been updated, so she continues on to Joleane's journal. The entry starts talking about Joleane sleeping over at her friends house, then continues on about Joleane driving to see Mark at work. After work, Joleane and Mark go with their friends to the mall.

Once out of the mall, Joleane and Mark end up in the cab of Mark's friend Matt's truck. They are not only listening to music, however- they are making out. Interesting. Mark was upset when his ex-girlfriend went on a date with their friend, but he obviously has no problem making out with his friends ex-girlfriend. Hmmmm... seems like kind of an assholish thing to do.

Well, the moral of this story is yet to be decided. All Ashley knows is that it's obvious her fairy tale is still to be written. Prince Charming is elusive to her still, so for now she'll stand waiting, with a pen in her hand, for the day when the story of her fairy tale begins. . .
