Ashley

Hey, can you talk a little louder? I don't think my heart's broken enough. But someday we'll all be old and I'll be so damn beautiful.

Name:

This blog has followed me for a long time... from the first day of CIS not knowing what to write about, to when I felt the urge to go to church and the blogs that followed, to now while I sit in Michigan. Hopefully you can take something worthwhile from it and enjoy it.

Fallen Angels

The wind outside my window stirs me from the sleep I had been attempting to escape to. I draw back the curtains and am face-to-face with the stains of red that are being thrown about by the reckless storm. In the red stains are forgotten friends, the shadows of fallen angels and the stings of unrequited love. Trying to drift away from the onslaught of visions I struggle to close the curtain but the cloth hanging from the ceiling won't budge. With no where else to turn, I'm forced to battle with the foes I've been given. With no weapons or way to touch these airforms I turn inside my own head and prep myself for the fight. I try to forget everything these red stains signify for me, but with a quick left hook they break down my first line of defense. Not willing to be overtaken, I strive to forgive. Just as my opponents are about to turn heel and run, however, my own mind comes in and throws my forgiveness to the ground. There it sits until the puddle of red stains forming wash it away to an unseen stream to escape the nightmare that's now in charge. All my attemps have come up short, and so in a final charge I become angry and withdraw from the fight. I let the malice in the red stains blemish my hands and I step through glass window into the cloud of red. Within a moment I'm covered with the anger and resentment that has made my ill will and I wallow in it. After living with the red stains for hours I wake up to the familiar monotone buzzing on my alarm and get out of bed ready to start another day of work. Even after showering and dressing, though, the red stain stays stamped on my body for the world to see.

Forever

Forever is such a limiting word, I believe. People always get into new relationships or develop new attitudes or start to like a new type of music and it seems that it's an automatic response to affix the word "forever" onto their descriptions of it. "I will love you forever," "I will always believe this," "I will never stop liking alternative music." When does it end? Though the word forever, by definition, means "never-ending," all of these things will always cease to be. Eventually tastes will change, significant others will hurt you or views will change. Then what you thought would always be will stop. After a while, then, something else will come along that people believe will always be. So I end this little rant with a question: when does forever end??

Blender

The blender was still
On chop when you
Felt the need to stuff
My soul inside it

Luckily I was the one
Holding the lid to
The blender and I found
Time to cover it tight

That lid kept my broken
Soul hidden from my
Friends, but now I stand
After just exiting the blender.

Who do I see?
No one but the person who put
Me in the blender and put
My heart on a wild ride.
